BATTING MYSTERY SOLVED!

Batting choices seem to be a mystery to many quilters. Batting is an important component to your quilt. Often the consumer will rely on advertising or price when making a choice of what batting to use. So how do quilters know if they are choosing the right batting? Debbi Trevino has made it her mission to research and test battings available on the market today. Her expertise has earned her the title “Consumer Reporter of Battings”. There are so many battings available today. How do you know which one is best? What happens to battings after they have been washed? Come join us to find out the basics about batting and how your choices can help you be successful with your next quilted project. Participants will feel and see numerous quilted samples. Every quilt should have a label. No more will you want to use a simple muslin label or even just sign the back of your quilts! Labeling is a valuable historical document to quilts. In this fun and creative class students will learn beautiful, unique custom label techniques using common items from home - even your computer! This informative presentation will inspire you to create one of a kind labels. Students will create a label in class to take home.

BLING IT ON - Textile Bead Embellishment
1/2 day (3 hour) Hands On
Textiles sparkle with bead embellishments. Learn about bead selection and various techniques to create texture and visual interest with hands-on basic textile beading techniques. Student will begin creating their own encrusted beaded project using what is demonstrated in class. Your creation can be used as an embellishment, a brooch or framed as miniature art. Hands on basic techniques for hand sewing beads to your quilts, clothing or other fiber art projects. Supply list provided.
HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?
Full day (4-6 hours) Hands On
An amazing garden will bloom right before your eyes in this longarm machine piecing and threadplay workshop. (Yes! You can piece a quilt on the longarm!) Debbi has handpainted individual textile pieces for her students and is prepared to help you "develop an eye for design" as we learn this fun and creative process. Entirely pieced and quilted on the longarm machine. Each student will creat a miniture garden enhanced with quilted thread play. Don't let this intimidate you! It is really fun and easy and a process with incredible results. Supply list provided.

Learn to foundation piece in this simple, yet intricate technique class. Students will take an image, make a pattern and execute it with fabrics.
Small class quilt can be quilted on your longarm or domestic machine. Stunning results.

Creating Textured Tiles will get your design juices flowing in this fun, fast paced, hands on machine quilting class. The designs you learn and execute can be used in backgrounds, edge to edge quilting, customized blocks, borders and sashings. Join Debbi as she shares just some of her multitude of quilting design ideas with you. These designs will be quilted on your very own take home fabric sampler for future reference.

LEAF IT TO NATURE
1/2 day (3 hours) Hands On/ or Lecture/Drawing
Debbi loves to look at nature and create designs that inspire customized quilting motifs based on what she sees in the flora and fauna around her. Students will start with a basic leaf design and work up from there. You will learn how to draft appropriate designs and how to execute them in overall quilting, block designs and borders. We will discuss different tools that can aid in the execution of your quilt projects. Come prepared with a drawing pad and pencil!
SASHINGS THAT SIZZLE

Are those sashings lacking the ‘pizzazz’ you seek to customize your quilts? Join us for this fun and design filled class that is certain to give you a multitude of custom quilted ideas - not only for the sashing areas of your quilts, but also the option to expand into edge to edge and border designs! BEGINNING MACHINE QUILTING

Where do you start? What kind of thread and batting should I use? How do I prepare my backing properly? How do you decide what kind of motifs to use in my quilting? what about using rulers? Can I quilt as a business?
